Working inside an insulated form has several inherent advantages. For example, delays due to weather are virtually eliminated, and the quality of work can be easily controlled. The temperature inside the insulated form stays within a comfortable range, and due to conditions of high relative humidity, the shotcrete regularly surpasses the required design strength of 4,000 psi.

DOMTEC® International's roof membrane and insulation envelope insure water tightness and virtually eliminate the occurrence of condensation. The insulation protects against large temperature fluctuations maximizing the stored product's quality. The life of the dome structure itself is also enhanced by protecting it from freeze/thaw cycles that can sometimes destroy non-insulated concrete.

DOMTEC® International domes are ideal for storing most bulk products, including; cement, cement clinker, concentrates, flyash, fertilizers, gypsum, salt, soda ash, coal, grains and many others.

The dome's ability to withstand heavy products piled high against the walls minimizes the dome's diameter and the plant space it must occupy. This compactness and the dome's inherent strength reduces costs for the dome's fill conveying systems, which can be shorter in length and supported on the dome structure. For example, domes already constructed are supporting more than 100 m. tonnes of load from a head house, fill conveyor structures and dust filters.

DOMTEC® International carefully controls all phases of the monolithic dome's design and construction. Delivering consistent high quality to the client is the prime objective.

Domes can be constructed in a variety of configurations: Normally domes are near hemispherical in shape. However, they may also be tall like silos (with a vertical cylindrical base section); or they may be relatively low in profile, for example; the dome's height could be only 25% of its diameter.

Product Handling:

A dome advantages is it's round shape is adaptable to a variety of reclaim systems for automated withdrawal of stored products. Both mechanical and pneumatic systems are functioning well in DOMTEC® International domes around the world. Likewise, many domes continue to be unloaded by means of front end loaders. Each monolithic dome is designed to meet the objectives of the client most efficiently. Do
